Two mothers in Bihar are mourning the loss of their sons, who were among the five people killed in the Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 cargo plane crash in Jorhat, Assam. Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar and Agniveervayu Danish Alam were on board the plane when it crashed while landing on Saturday.
Kumar's family recalls his final call with his mother, where he looked cheerful and normal, but struggled to accept the news when they couldn't reach him later. His younger brother said the family remembers him as a humble young man who remained connected to his roots.
Alam's mother, Akhtari Begum, said it was her son's dream to serve in the IAF, and he had worked hard to achieve that goal. His friends and local residents described him as a determined young man who carried the hopes of his family.
The mortal remains of both personnel were taken to their native villages on Sunday and were given full military honours. Thousands of people gathered in Alam's native village to pay their respects and raised slogans of 'Saheed Amar Rahe'.
