A grand November wedding in Udaipur, estimated to cost ₹14 crore, has turned into a murder investigation after police alleged that the bride, Siya Goyal, and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal.
The 25-year-old realtor was found dead at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18, and police are investigating the motive behind the alleged crime, with theories emerging that Siya was unhappy about Ketan wearing a wig and was in a relationship with Chetan despite being engaged to Ketan.
Police have examined call detail records, which show that Siya and Chetan spoke over 2,000 times between January 1 and June 18, and are looking into the possibility that Siya feared the social consequences of ending the engagement.
The investigation has revealed that the families had planned an elaborate ceremony in Udaipur, with arrangements including two private planes for guests, and that preparations were underway before Ketan's death.
