The Noida International Airport in Jewar has officially begun commercial operations with the arrival of its inaugural flight from Lucknow on Monday.
IndiGo flight 6E-2278 landed at 7:55 am, marking the start of regular services between the two cities.
A water cannon salute greeted the aircraft upon landing, while passengers on board celebrated the successful landing with applause.
Notably, Akasa Air is set to launch daily services from Noida to Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai from Tuesday, becoming the second carrier to operate from the airport.
While commercial passenger services have begun, the airport's first cargo flight is scheduled to depart on Wednesday, operating on a domestic route.
The new flight connection is seen as a significant development for Uttar Pradesh's aviation sector, aimed at improving connectivity between the state's administrative and business hubs.
The airport features a 3,900-metre runway designed for wide-body aircraft, along with modern navigation infrastructure and a multi-layered security network.
