A 20-year-old engineering student in Odisha's Ganjam district was found dead in her hostel room, prompting the arrest of transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena's nephew, Biswajit Jena, 24, on charges of abetting her suicide.
The deceased woman was in a relationship with Biswajit Jena, a fellow student at the same college, and was found dead by her roommates on Saturday.
A case was registered at Golanthara police station, and an investigation was launched based on a complaint from the deceased woman's uncle.
Senior police officers visited the scene, and the scientific team and an executive magistrate also visited the spot.
The exact cause of the woman's death will be ascertained after receiving the post-mortem report.
