A 21-year-old female student was found dead in her hostel room, prompting police to book the state transport minister's nephew for abetment to suicide.
The deceased, a third-year BCA student, was in a relationship with Biswajit Jena, the nephew of Odisha transport minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena.
Police have seized the student's mobile phone and laptop, collected CCTV footage, and questioned her friends and acquaintances as part of the investigation.
The postmortem has been conducted, and police are examining the nature of the relationship between the deceased and Biswajit to determine if harassment or coercion contributed to the incident.
