Police have arrested Bhimsen Prasad Tudu, an Odisha Administrative Service officer, in connection with the death of his estranged lover, Chandrika Hembram, a third-year MBBS student.
Hembram's family alleged that Tudu had been pressuring her to undergo cosmetic treatment to become fair, and that he had distanced himself from her after getting into the OAS.
Initially, the case was considered a suicide, but the family claimed it was a 'planned murder.'
Police have initiated a probe using forensic and IT technology, and have found digital evidence against Tudu, including WhatsApp data and seized electronic devices.
