AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded that the Election Commission accept PAN cards, driving licences, and PDS ration cards as identity proofs for voter verification during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Telangana.
He stated that three of the 12 identity proofs approved by the Election Commission are not available in Telangana, including the Permanent Residence Certificate, the NRC, and the Family Register.
Owaisi urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to make efforts to include the driving licence, PDS ration card, and other documents issued by the state government in the list of valid proofs for establishing voter identity.
He also raised concerns over 'anomalies' found during the pre-SIR mapping exercise in the state, claiming they were as high as 90 per cent in one assembly constituency.
Owaisi condemned the US military strike on a commercial vessel off the Oman coast, calling US President Donald Trump 'mad' for troubling the entire world.
He also commented on the rejection of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan's nomination for the Rajya Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh, stating that it is mandatory to disclose in the nomination form whether an FIR has been registered against a candidate.
