A Pakistani woman's marriage has turned into a nightmare, with her husband allegedly abandoning her in Pakistan and planning a second marriage in Delhi. Nikita Nagdev, a Karachi resident, claims her husband Vikram Nagdev, a Pakistani-origin man living in Indore, left her stranded in Pakistan after their marriage in January 2020. According to an NDTV report, Nikita and Vikram followed Hindu customs in their marriage in Karachi. However, a month later, Vikram brought her to India, only to send her back to Pakistan on July 9, 2020, citing a 'visa technicality.' Nikita alleges that the move was forced, and her husband made no effort to bring her back to India. In a video message, Nikita appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, 'If justice is not served today, women will lose faith in justice.' She also alleged that her treatment by her in-laws deteriorated after the wedding, and her husband was having an affair with one of her relatives. Nikita further claimed that during the COVID-19 lockdown, her husband pressured her to return to Pakistan and has since blocked her re-entry into India. The matter was taken up by the Sindhi Panch Mediation and Legal Counsel Centre, which recommended Vikram's deportation to Pakistan. The case has sparked concerns about the treatment of women in marital homes and the need for justice. Nikita's plea for justice has been echoed by many, who believe that every woman deserves fair treatment in India. The government's response to the case remains unclear, but the issue has highlighted the complexities of cross-border marriages and the need for a unified approach to addressing such cases.
