Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for traditional medicine to receive the recognition it deserves, citing its potential to expand its reach with the help of science. Speaking at the WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine, Modi stressed the importance of strengthening research, leveraging digital technologies, and developing a reliable regulatory framework to boost traditional medicine. Modi highlighted the growing concern of maintaining balance in the body, calling it a 'global urgency.' He noted that traditional medicine often faces scrutiny over safety and evidence, but India is actively working to address these concerns. Citing the example of Ashwagandha, a centuries-old traditional remedy, Modi said that India is promoting its research and evidence-based validation. During the summit, Modi launched several significant initiatives, including the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP) and the Ayush Mark, a global benchmark for quality Ayush products and services. He also released a technical report on yoga training and a book on the transformation of Ayush in India. A commemorative postal stamp on Ashwagandha was unveiled to symbolize India's rich traditional medicinal heritage.
