Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Saturday, a day after a bill to implement women's reservation in legislatures was defeated in the Lok Sabha.

The bill aimed to increase Lok Sabha seats to 816 from 543 and state assembly seats to accommodate 33% reservation for women.

However, the ruling BJP-led alliance failed to secure a two-thirds majority, with 298 members voting in support and 230 against the bill.
