Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the G7 Summit 2026 in France, where he will raise the aspirations of the Global South and hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Modi will use the platform to give voice to the Global South's concerns and push for reforms in the United Nations to include Global South countries in the UNSC by expanding permanent seats.

The meeting with Trump comes amid a stand-off between India and the United States, with tensions rising over recent attacks on Indian vessels in the Gulf of Oman and a tariff dispute between the two nations.

The G7 Summit 2026 will focus on geopolitical challenges, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the conflict in West Asia, as well as the future of artificial intelligence and balanced economic growth.
