Poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor has announced that his Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) will contest the Bankipur Assembly seat in Patna, a seat currently vacant after BJP leader Nitin Nabin's elevation to the party's national president.

Kishor believes the by-election will serve as a referendum on the promises made in November 2025, including providing ₹2 lakh, halting migration from Bihar, and improving the education system and employment opportunities.

Bankipur has been a BJP fortress for 40 years, with Nabin retaining the seat for a fifth consecutive term last year, defeating RJD candidate Rekha Kumari by a margin of nearly 52,000 votes.

Kishor is bullish on Bankipur, claiming that only the Jan Suraaj Party can defeat the BJP there, and sees the bypoll as a test for the new BJP-JD(U) regime under Samrat Choudhary.
