A year after the tragic stampede at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere show of Allu Arjun-starred film 'Pushpa-2: The Rule,' Sri Tej, a 10-year-old boy, remains in a critical condition. His father, Bhaskar, has been seeking additional financial assistance from the state government to cover the ongoing rehabilitation therapy costs. Bhaskar met Telangana state film and theatre development corporation chairman Dil Raju on Thursday, highlighting the family's struggles to cope with the mounting expenses. The doctors have estimated that Sri Tej needs at least six more months of treatment to recover. The Allu Arjun team has been providing continuous support to the family, including covering the cost of Sri Tej's ongoing rehabilitation at a specialized centre. A corpus of ₹2 crore has been deposited for his long-term needs, generating interest that is being used to support the family. However, the family is facing significant expenses, with medical bills amounting to nearly ₹70 lakh already paid during Sri Tej's treatment. The family's only source of income was Bhaskar's job at a jewellery store, which he had to quit to care for his son. Sri Tej's health is gradually stabilizing, but he requires constant care and monitoring. His family is seeking additional aid to cover the ongoing expenses, including the cost of his rehabilitation at the Asia TransCare Rehabilitation Centre in Secunderabad, which amounts to ₹90,000 per month. The family is grateful for the support they have received so far, but they need continued assistance to ensure Sri Tej's recovery. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when the family was watching the film with thousands of fans at the Sandhya Theatre, leading to a stampede-like situation that resulted in the death of Sri Tej's mother, Revathi, and left him critically injured.
