The Allahabad High Court has delayed its order to direct an FIR against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in connection with the alleged dual citizenship controversy.

A bench of Justice Subhash Vidyarthi has decided to first examine the legal position on issuance of notice before passing any direction.

The court was informed that a full court verdict mandates the issuance of notice to the proposed accused in such matters, which was not brought to the court's attention in the earlier hearing.

The matter has been posted for April 20.

Rahul Gandhi is accused of being a UK citizen and incorporating a company in 2003, declaring his nationality as British.

The petitioner, a Karnataka-based BJP worker, sought registration of an FIR against Gandhi under various provisions of law.
