Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has accused the Centre and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) of compromising the evaluation process of Class 12 answer sheets, alleging that changes in tender specifications led to answer sheets being scanned on mobile phones.

Gandhi pointed to a CBSE tender released in May 2025, which required answer sheets to be scanned with automatic robotic scanners, but a revised version issued later removed these requirements, allowing for generic scanners with lower resolution.

He claimed that answer sheets had been scanned using mobile phones, resulting in blurred copies, missing pages, and unscanned books, which he described as 'fraud'.

Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, questioning why the government had not responded to the issue.

The CBSE is set to take action against its on-screen marking service provider, Coempt Edu Teck, over issues linked to the online evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets.
