RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has stated that the RSS is the largest voluntary organisation in the world but also the most misunderstood. He made this statement at an event as part of the RSS centenary celebrations.
Bhagwat said the organisation might appear as a paramilitary body due to its uniformed swayamsevaks or as an all-India gymnasium due to its promotion of Bharatiya games and martial arts.
However, he clarified that the RSS is not a reaction to any particular situation nor opposed to any section of society or political party.
Bhagwat further stated that the RSS had decided to reach out to people and explain the organisation and its work as part of its centenary celebrations.
