Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah marked a historic milestone on Wednesday, becoming the longest-serving CM in the state's history. At 77, he attributed his success to the unwavering support of the people, stating that his continued presence in politics depends entirely on their blessings. Siddaramaiah, who has been in office for years, said he views his achievement not as a personal accomplishment but as a testament to the people's faith in him. He expressed satisfaction with the functioning of his administration, despite sustained criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP has accused the Congress-led government of lacking achievements and mismanaging the state's finances. However, Siddaramaiah dismissed these claims, pointing to legislation such as the SCP TSP Act, which provides dedicated budgetary allocations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and the Anna Bhagya scheme, a food security programme that offers subsidised or free food grains. As the opposition responds cautiously to his record-breaking tenure, Siddaramaiah's party is preparing to celebrate his milestone. A felicitation programme is being organised in Vijayapura, where a statue of Veer Rani Kittur Chennamma will be inaugurated, and several development-related events will take place. Veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has expressed confidence in the party's prospects, stating that they are working towards forming a government with a large majority in the 2028 Assembly elections. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the upcoming local body polls. Siddaramaiah's commitment to his people remains unwavering, as he vows to continue serving until he has their blessings. As the political debate continues, one thing is clear – the people of Karnataka will play a crucial role in determining the future of their state's leadership.
