Siddaramaiah, the outgoing Karnataka chief minister, has ruled out a move to national politics or the Rajya Sabha, opting to remain active in state politics. Speaking at a press conference after submitting his resignation, Siddaramaiah stated that he would continue to serve his people and remain in active politics for the next two years as an MLA.
The Congress high command had offered him a Rajya Sabha berth, but he declined the proposal, citing his desire to remain in state politics. Siddaramaiah also made it clear that the decision on Karnataka's next CM would rest with the Congress leadership and the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
Leadership transition in Karnataka Congress is underway, with the Congress Legislature Party expected to formally elect its new leader later on Thursday. Despite stepping down, Siddaramaiah remains a key player in Karnataka politics, leveraging his experience during the remainder of the Assembly term and in preparations for future elections.
