The Supreme Court has allowed Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat to participate in the Asian Games selection trials, despite a Delhi high court order that questioned the Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) selection criteria.

The high court had declared the WFI policy, which restricted eligibility to wrestlers who won medals in 2025, exclusionary and biased against accomplished athletes like Phogat, who took a sabbatical due to maternity leave.

The Supreme Court, however, expressed concerns over the high court's interference with the policy and the potential consequences for Indian sports.

The court issued a notice on the WFI's appeal and allowed Phogat to participate in the selection trials, pending a hearing next week.
