Telangana Gram Panchayat Polls: Final Phase Voting Underway, Counting Scheduled for 2 pm

Voting for the third and final phase of the Telangana gram panchayat elections began at 7 am on Wednesday and will conclude at 1 pm. The Telangana State Election Commission has made necessary security arrangements to ensure a peaceful polling process. A total of 12,652 sarpanch candidates and 75,725 ward members are vying for positions in the election, which will be held at 36,483 polling stations across the state. Over 53 lakh eligible voters are expected to exercise their franchise. In this final phase, 4,159 gram panchayats and 36,452 wards are up for election. Notably, 394 sarpanches and 7,908 ward members have already been elected unanimously. The first two phases of the election saw impressive voter turnouts, with 84.28 per cent and 85.86 per cent respectively. The three-phase gram panchayat election schedule was announced by the Telangana State Election Commission on November 25. The counting of votes will begin at 2 pm on the same day, following the conclusion of the polling process. The results are expected to be announced later in the day.
