Telangana Gram Panchayat Polls: Record 80.78% Voter Turnout in Final Phase, Results to Be Announced Soon

Telangana has recorded a remarkable 80.78% voter turnout in the final phase of its gram panchayat polls, which concluded at 1 pm on Wednesday. The highly anticipated results are expected to be announced shortly. A total of 12,652 candidates are vying for sarpanch posts, while 75,725 hopefuls are contesting for ward member positions, according to PTI. With 53 lakh eligible voters casting their ballots at 36,483 polling stations, the stage is set for a decisive outcome. The polls, which cover 3,752 gram panchayats and 28,410 wards, are a crucial step in local governance. Notably, 394 sarpanches and 7,908 ward members were elected unanimously in the final phase, highlighting the widespread support for the candidates. The first and second phases of elections saw voter turnouts of 84.28% and 85.86%, respectively. With security arrangements in place, the atmosphere remains peaceful, awaiting the announcement of the final results.
