Imphal: Three injured youths from the Kuki community were shifted out of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) under tight security after midnight, officials said. The youths were injured in an exchange of fire with rival groups in Kangpokpi district on Monday.

The injured youths, Genlenmang Vaiphei, Lunliandaw Vaiphei, and Paogou Lal, were moved to another healthcare facility, though the destination was not disclosed. They were escorted by security forces and seen traveling towards the Churachandpur district.

On Tuesday night, security forces foiled attempts by protesters to storm the hospital premises, prompting the forces to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. The protesters had demanded that the youths be handed over to them.

The injured youths were brought to RIMS by security forces, with one reportedly being a footballer who has played for Mohun Bagan. Following their admission, a group of protesters gathered outside the hospital, objecting to the treatment of the injured youths.
