New Delhi: Rebel TMC MP Satabdi Roy has pinpointed corruption, the growing influence of national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, and former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's leadership style as key reasons behind the party's existential crisis after its 2026 state assembly elections debacle.

Roy, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, said corruption was the primary reason behind the public's disenchantment with the party.

She also questioned Abhishek Banerjee's increasing role in party affairs, accusing him of a centralised, 'arrogant' leadership style and excessive reliance on political consultants.

Roy alleged that Mamata's leadership style had changed over the years, saying power had altered her temperament.

The TMC maintains that the party remains united under Mamata Banerjee's leadership, rejecting criticism from dissidents.
