The TMC has suffered a major blow with Sushmita Dev's exit from the party and her resignation from the Rajya Sabha. In an interview with HT, Dev revealed that the party's loss in Assam and West Bengal made her realize that the TMC had no future in Assam.

Dev stated that the party's confusion and internal dynamics, particularly in Bengal, were major factors in her decision to leave. She also expressed her concerns about the party's lack of a plan for Assam, where she had worked to improve the party's position.

Dev met with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after quitting the TMC and expressed her desire to work in Assam. She claimed that she was not threatened by the BJP and that her decision to leave the TMC was a wise one, given the circumstances.

Dev's exit is seen as a significant blow to the TMC, which is already facing challenges in Assam and West Bengal. The party's leadership, particularly Abhishek Banerjee, has been criticized for its handling of the situation.
