In a fresh twist to the Trinamool Congress's internal crisis, the son of rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has sent a legal notice to Mamata Banerjee and other party leaders over alleged defamatory statements.

Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, a psychiatrist by profession, accused TMC MP Mahua Moitra of falsely claiming that his mother was seeking an MLA ticket for him from the Barasat assembly constituency.

The legal notice, which was issued as a 'Cease and Desist Notice', describes Baidyanath as a highly qualified psychiatrist with a reputation for academic excellence and professional integrity.

The notice further alleged that representatives of IPAC, the political consultancy firm associated with the TMC, had reached out to Baidyanath and encouraged him to contest elections from the Barasat constituency.

The notice has given an ultimatum to the TMC leaders, asking them to retract all false statements and issue a public clarification and apology within 15 days. Failure to do so may lead to civil, criminal, and other legal proceedings.
