US President Donald Trump has once again repeated his claim that he helped prevent a potential nuclear war between India and Pakistan earlier this year. Speaking at the White House, Trump stated that he has successfully resolved eight conflicts, but the Russia-Ukraine war remains unsolved. According to Trump, eight aircraft were shot down during the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan following New Delhi's Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians. However, India has repeatedly denied any foreign mediation in resolving the tensions with Pakistan. India's Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan had initially sought direct talks with India, which led to an understanding on cessation of hostilities on May 10. Trump's claims have been met with skepticism by India, which has dismissed his assertion of having mediated a ceasefire between the two nations. The Indian government has stated that the understanding on cessation of hostilities was reached through direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO). In his latest remarks, Trump expressed hope to put an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, which he claims is fueled by the 'tremendous hatred' between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump's comments come as the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues to escalate. It's worth noting that Trump's claims of having resolved eight conflicts have been met with controversy, particularly in the context of his assertion that he helped prevent a potential nuclear war between India and Pakistan. The Indian government has not acknowledged any foreign mediation in resolving the tensions with Pakistan, and Trump's claims have been widely disputed by experts and officials.
