US President Donald Trump may visit India early next year, with planning underway for the trip, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday.
The announcement comes weeks after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump at the G7 summit in France.
Rubio said the US is close to finalizing a trade deal with India and is looking forward to re-engaging in another Quad meeting soon.
A visit by Trump would be his first to India since 2020, when he attended the Namaste Trump event at the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also referred to the recent meeting between Modi and Trump, saying the two leaders discussed defence cooperation and several key announcements could be made in the coming months.
