DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin has sparked controversy by repeating his call for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, where newly-appointed Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay was present.
In a viral clip, Udhayanidhi said that 'Sanathanam that divides people should be eradicated.'
BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan has criticized Udhayanidhi's remark as a 'toxic rant' and compared him to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who has been accused of peddling divisive hate politics.
This is not the first time Udhayanidhi has made such a statement, and his remarks have previously sparked a huge political storm in India.
The Madras High Court has also ruled that Udhayanidhi's remarks amount to 'hate speech'.
Despite the controversy, Udhayanidhi remains defiant, saying that he only spoke against caste differences and will continue to repeat the remark 'again and again'.
