UK Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper will meet Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday to review bilateral relations and discuss measures to minimize economic shocks from ongoing conflicts.
Cooper's visit builds on a recent trip by UK Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle, aimed at implementing the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) signed last year.
The two foreign ministers will discuss closer collaboration between the UK and India to minimize economic shocks, preserve global stability, and ensure freedom of navigation.
Key issues expected to be addressed include economic growth, technology, innovation, defence, security, climate, and education.
The UK-India partnership is seen as a bulwark against rising global uncertainty, with both sides working together in areas such as the Technology Security Initiative and the trade deal.
India and the UK signed the FTA in July 2025, setting the stage for increasing bilateral trade by £25.5 billion annually.
