A question about alleged hostility to dissent in India was stopped before it could be completed after a London lecture by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.

The exchange between an attendee and the anchor has since circulated on social media and been re-shared by the online movement Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

During an interactive session at Birkbeck College, University of London, a woman in the audience referred to the CJI's recent remarks and turned to the subject of dissent.

However, a man on the stage declined to take the question, citing the topic as concerning artificial intelligence and international law.

The CJP has since planned a massive protest in Delhi to call for education minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.

This incident follows a similar moment during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Norway in May, where a journalist was ignored when she asked for questions.
