The Unnao rape survivor has filed a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleging that the investigating officer mishandled the case and showed bias in favor of the accused, former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The development comes as protests against the Delhi high court's decision to suspend Sengar's life sentence continue to grow, with activists and leaders being detained near Parliament and Jantar Mantar. According to the survivor's six-page complaint, the investigating officer used forged documents and manipulated facts to help the accused secure a favorable outcome. She also claimed that the officer falsely attributed statements to her and accused her of using a mobile phone belonging to another woman. The trial court had previously questioned the recording of her statement, leading the survivor to accuse the officer of colluding with the accused. The CBI had previously argued that the investigating officer's claims regarding the mobile phone were not conclusive proof of bias. However, the survivor's complaint alleges a more sinister motive, accusing the officer of deliberately sabotaging the investigation to help Sengar and the other accused. The protests near Parliament and Jantar Mantar were led by activists and leaders, including Yogita Bhayana and Mumtaz Patel of the Congress party. Bhayana was detained along with several others, and police blocked protesters at Jantar Mantar. Patel said the protest was not just about the Unnao survivor but about the rights of all women in the country. The survivor's mother has stated that she will approach the Supreme Court against the high court's order, and the CBI has filed a special leave petition challenging the decision. The survivor herself expressed frustration with the CBI, saying that they had previously failed to stand by her lawyer and that Sengar's family was now celebrating while hers was suffering. Despite the suspension of Sengar's life sentence, he will remain in jail due to a separate 10-year term for the custodial death of the survivor's father.
