A 35-year-old cook from Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and two minor daughters in a shocking display of domestic violence. The suspect, Farooq, reportedly snapped after a heated argument with his wife, Tahira, over financial issues. Tahira, 32, had accused Farooq of not providing enough money for household expenses, leading to a bitter dispute. According to police, Farooq's anger escalated when his wife, who was not wearing a burqa, left their home in Garhi Daulat village to visit her parents. On the night of December 10, Farooq allegedly shot Tahira dead, followed by the murder of their two daughters, Afreen (14) and Sahreen (7). The bodies were then buried inside their home. The police were alerted by Farooq's father after the family's disappearance was reported. During interrogation, Farooq confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the bodies. The police have registered a case of murder and are conducting a further investigation. Tahira's family had sought help from panchayats on multiple occasions to resolve the disputes between Tahira and Farooq, but social pressure led to Tahira being sent back home each time. The tragic incident highlights the deep-seated issues of domestic violence and the need for stronger support systems for victims.
