A police constable in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit has bravely come forward with a shocking tale of harassment and assault at the hands of her in-laws. The constable, who is currently posted at the Bisalpur police station, alleges that her husband and his family have been demanding dowry for nearly two years. According to her complaint, the constable's husband and sister-in-law were caught in an inappropriate situation in September 2024. When she confronted them, her in-laws allegedly assaulted her and forced her to drink sanitiser, leading to her hospitalisation. The constable claimed that the incident had severe consequences for her unborn child, who now suffers from health complications. The constable's ordeal began after her wedding in January 2023, where her family spent approximately ₹50 lakh and gifted a car, gold and silver jewellery, and other items to her in-laws. However, her in-laws were not satisfied and demanded a Scorpio SUV, dismissing what they had received as low-quality. The constable alleged that her husband and father-in-law forced her to take medication to conceive a boy in July 2023, which she refused. They later came to Pilibhit to attack her and intended to kill her. In a separate incident, the constable claimed that she was raped by her brother-in-law at gunpoint in Meerut in July 2023. A case was registered at the Kharkhauda police station under sections 64, 74, 351(2), and 352 of the BNS. The case was registered at the Bisalpur police station under sections 85, 115(2), 351(3), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The constable's husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law have been booked in connection with the case.
