Actor-politician Vijay's maiden campaign in Puducherry took place amidst heavy security, with a unique twist. Unlike his previous speeches, Vijay avoided criticizing Puducherry's Chief Minister N R Rangasamy but instead targeted his coalition partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Vijay accused the Union government of neglecting Puducherry by failing to provide statehood, development projects, and basic facilities such as parking spaces. During his speech, Vijay praised the Puducherry government for providing full security, a stark contrast to the situation in neighboring Tamil Nadu. He also criticized the DMK, saying they would learn from their mistakes during the 2026 assembly elections. The event was not without incident, as security personnel stopped a man carrying a handgun from entering the premises. The crowd was restricted, with only 5000 residents of Puducherry allowed inside, using QR codes. In a bid to rally support, Vijay drew parallels with the journey of former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, who founded the AIADMK in Puducherry before going on to form the government in Tamil Nadu. Vijay claimed to have the support of the people, having been a household name in Puducherry for 30 years.
