Liverpool has finally appointed a new manager, with Andoni Iraola taking over the reins. The 43-year-old replaces Arne Slot, who was sacked following a disappointing 2025-26 Premier League season that saw the Reds finish 5th.

Iraola has signed a two-year deal, according to British media, and is eager to make an impact at the club. 'Liverpool is Liverpool,' he said in a statement. 'You don't need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. The atmosphere, the supporters, the club, the players, the chance for me to coach top-level players, the chance to fight for titles. I think it cannot be more attractive than this.'

Iraola is no stranger to the Premier League, having led AFC Bournemouth to a sixth-placed finish and European qualification last season. He has a wealth of experience, having played over 500 games for Athletic Club and earning 7 caps for Spain.

'I think Liverpool gives me the chance to coach top players, and top players give you the chance to fight for titles. To win titles,' he added. 'Obviously, when you arrive at a place, you cannot promise everything. You cannot promise. But it's true that I understand where I'm coming and what is expected. I'm ready for the challenge.'
