The NFL has been rocked by a series of off-field incidents, with several players facing legal issues and criminal allegations. Jonathon Cooper, a key member of the Denver Broncos defense, was arrested on Friday in connection with a domestic violence allegation.
According to the arrest affidavit, the incident allegedly began after an argument between Cooper and his girlfriend, Jade, over accusations of infidelity. The dispute centered around Cooper's alleged infidelity, which led to a physical altercation.
The affidavit states that Jade, 28, confronted Cooper at his residence on Thursday night and took his phone, throwing it against a wall. A struggle over the device followed, after which Cooper recovered his phone.
Cooper then instructed Jade to leave his home and allegedly warned that he would damage her cellphone if she refused. When she remained at the residence, Cooper reportedly carried out the threat, biting the device and cracking the screen of the iPhone 17.
Cooper is facing three charges: one count of domestic violence summons and complaint, one count of domestic violence, and one count of criminal mischief involving property damage valued between $300 and $1,000. His bond was set at $1,000, and he is scheduled to make an initial court appearance before a judge later today.
