Mumbai: Rohan Bopanna, the retired Indian tennis pro, is back on the courts, but this time as a mentor. The former doubles world No.1 has been spotted in Bengaluru, supporting young Indian players who've made a name for themselves at the Davis Cup and women's ITF events.
Bopanna's Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA) will now mentor two promising singles players, Dhakshineswar Suresh and Vaishnavi Adkar, who've signed up to make RBTA their training base.
With a vision to create a high-performance centre for Indian players, Bopanna hopes to turn RBTA into a hub for young talents to develop their skills. The academy will provide a structured environment that combines coaching, fitness, physio support, and tournament planning, something that Indian players often lack.
Bopanna plans to be hands-on, working closely with players, shaping the training environment, and helping build the right systems around them. He believes that his experiences on the tour can help younger players navigate the journey of professional tennis.
RBTA aims to become a place where players can grow through every stage of their journey, from kids to budding pros. Bopanna's vision is to create a professional ecosystem in India, with strong coaching, sports science, and a competitive training environment, making it an attractive option for top pros to train in the country.
