England manager Thomas Tuchel expressed his disappointment after the team's narrow 1-0 victory against New Zealand in a pre-FIFA World Cup 2026 friendly fixture.
Harry Kane scored the solitary goal with a header in first-half stoppage time, but Tuchel was not pleased with the team's performance, particularly in the first half.
He stated that the team played 'too much freestyle' football, which slowed down their game and made it difficult for counter-pressing.
Tuchel also pointed out that England attempted a lot of crosses and long-range efforts, which is not their usual playing approach.
The match also saw Rio Ngumoha become the fifth-youngest player to make his England debut, aged 17 years and 281 days.
England will next face Croatia in a friendly on Wednesday in Orlando, before heading to their training camp in Kansas City and beginning their tournament on June 17 against Croatia in Dallas.
