Ukraine's capital city Kyiv was rocked by a series of powerful explosions on Saturday, prompting authorities to issue a warning for residents to seek shelter. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the presence of drones and missiles across several regions, including the capital. The attack comes just two days before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet with former US President Donald Trump in Florida to discuss a proposed 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the nearly four-year-long conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to remain in shelters, citing ongoing air defence operations and reports of explosions. Witnesses described the blasts as loud and accompanied by bright flashes that illuminated the horizon. Cruise and ballistic missiles were reportedly deployed in the city. The peace talks between Zelensky and Trump come as Russia's deputy foreign minister accused Ukraine and its EU supporters of attempting to derail a US-brokered peace plan. The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives since February 2022, making it Europe's worst conflict since World War II.
