A 37-year-old Minneapolis resident, Renee Nicole Good, was tragically shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a targeted operation in the city's south side on January 7. Good's identity was confirmed by her mother, Donna Ganger, who described her as 'one of the kindest people I've ever known' - a compassionate, loving, and forgiving individual who dedicated her life to caring for others. Ganger also revealed that Good lived with her partner in the Twin Cities, although it's unclear if they resided in Minneapolis. A video circulating online appears to show federal agents surrounding Good's SUV as it reverses and accelerates, leading to the fatal shooting. While officials claim the agent fired in self-defense, eyewitnesses dispute this account, citing contradictions in the official narrative. The incident has sparked controversy, with city leaders and community witnesses questioning whether the deadly force used was justified. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has condemned the federal presence, calling for ICE to leave the city. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty has assured that state authorities, including the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), will conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the shooting.
