A shocking incident unfolded on the Paris metro on Friday, as a suspect stabbed three women at three different stations in the city center. According to the Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP), the attacks occurred between 4:15 PM and 4:45 PM at Opera, Arts et Métiers, and République stations. The victims, two of whom sustained minor injuries to their backs and thighs, received medical attention from emergency services. One of the victims is reportedly pregnant. The suspect, described as a man in his mid-20s, was identified using surveillance camera footage and tracked down through his mobile phone's geolocation. Prosecutors have ruled out terrorism as a motive, suggesting that the attack may have been carried out by an individual with a fragile mental state. The arrest comes amid heightened security concerns in European capitals during the end-of-year period, following recent attacks and plots targeting festive and religious gatherings. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez had called for 'maximum vigilance' last week, urging local officials to strengthen security measures across the country. The suspect has been taken into custody, and an investigation is ongoing.
