Red-Light Crash Lands Honduran Woman in ICE Custody in Louisiana
A Honduran woman was arrested in Louisiana after running a red light and colliding with an ICE vehicle during a federal operation targeting illegal immigrants.
A shocking incident occurred in Slidell, Louisiana, on Friday when a Honduran woman allegedly ran a red light and crashed into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to US Border Patrol Commander Gregory K. Bovino.
The collision took place during Operation Catahoula Crunch, a Department of Homeland Security initiative targeting individuals with violent criminal records in the New Orleans area. The operation focuses on individuals with severe offenses, including home invasion, armed robbery, and rape.
The incident has sparked a mix of reactions, with Commander Bovino describing it as 'one for the books' and adding that it's 'unlucky for her, but lucky for us.' The woman involved in the crash remains unidentified and her detention location is not disclosed.
Operation Catahoula Crunch has led to the apprehension of around 370 individuals in the area, part of a larger effort by the Trump administration to reduce illegal immigration and close the southern border. The Department of Homeland Security has reportedly deported over 622,000 individuals this year and seen a 37% decline in border encounters compared to the Biden administration.
In a separate development, the Department of Homeland Security has announced a limited-time holiday incentive offering $3,000 and a free flight home to undocumented migrants who agree to voluntarily leave the United States by the end of the year. The CBP Home mobile application will facilitate the self-deportation process, which includes forgiveness of any civil fines or penalties for failing to depart the country.
