An 18-year-old Wisconsin man, Nikita Casap, has pleaded guilty to murdering his parents, Tatiana Casap and Donald Mayer, in a case that has shocked authorities. Prosecutors claim the killings were committed to fund a plot to assassinate former US President Donald Trump. According to court records, Casap shot his parents in February 2023 and remained in their home for several weeks before fleeing the state with their SUV, cash, jewelry, passports, and a firearm. He was arrested in Kansas on February 28. Federal investigators believe the murders were part of a larger plan targeting the president. A search warrant uncovered a manifesto in which Casap called for Trump's assassination and discussed plans to overthrow the US government. Casap's phone also revealed messages in which he asked about hiding out in Ukraine and how long he would need to stay in hiding. He is currently facing life in prison for each of the two homicide convictions. Wisconsin law mandates a life sentence for each count, but the judge has discretion to decide if Casap will be eligible for parole after 20 years. The Waukesha County District Attorney plans to argue against parole, calling Casap a 'danger to the community.' Casap is scheduled to be sentenced on March 5.
