Chinmayi Sripaada, a singer who named Vairamuthu as an alleged abuser during the MeToo movement, called out Tamil stars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth for congratulating the poet and lyricist on the Jnanpith Award. Since then, she has faced a barrage of trolling equating her support for Trisha Krishnan to Rajinikanth-Kamal lauding Vairamuthu.

It all began with a 'like' on Trisha Krishnan's post after she and actor-politician Vijay wore matching outfits to a wedding reception in Chennai. Chinmayi was among the millions who 'liked' the post, which led trolls to use it as proof of her 'fake' feminism.

Reacting to the trolls, Chinmayi said they were like Epstein protectors, equating her support for Trisha to backing Vairamuthu. She also slammed a page that claimed she took Trisha's side due to caste or friendship, terming it 'selective bashing'.

Chinmayi reminded trolls that she had formally registered a complaint against Vairamuthu with the National Council for Women, along with documentation confirming its submission. She also wrote, 'Murpokku (progressive) Feminist Tamilnadu will always remain as the only place in the world to FORMALLY BAN a woman from working for just naming a molester.'
