Actor Divya Dutta has expressed her disagreement with the 'supporting actor' label, stating that she prefers to be called an actor. In a recent interview with Variety India, she reflected on her career, saying that she has consistently chosen roles that challenge conventional definitions of 'lead' and 'supporting' characters.

Divya questioned the long-standing belief that roles not driven by romance or the traditional hero narrative are automatically labelled as 'supporting' parts. She emphasized that she is not here to support anyone and instead supports herself. She would like to play an antagonist, do comedy, or be the main lead in a film.

Divya's filmography showcases her versatility as an actor, with notable projects including Veergati, Veer-Zaara, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Delhi-6, Stanley Ka Dabba, Heroine, Badlapur, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Her upcoming drama series, Chiraiya, will release on JioHotstar on March 20, where she plays the lead role of Kamlesh, an ideal daughter-in-law whose world shatters when she discovers her sister-in-law is facing sexual abuse within her marriage.
