Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 review: It feels less like a story that evolves and more like one that circles back to where it began.  | Bollywood

Ginny Weds Sunny 2, a sequel to the 2020 film, feels like a predictable and dated rom-com that rarely strays from familiar beats. The story centers on Ginny (Medha Shankr) and Sunny (Avinash Tiwary), a couple on the cusp of marriage, who gloss over their past to present a more agreeable version of themselves. However, the truth surfaces after marriage, forming the crux of the film.

The film begins as a light, breezy affair, complete with quirky families and a hero ka dost. The narrative chugs along, helped by occasional laughs, but the interval point feels bizarre, and the central conflict doesn't fully connect. The music is forgettable, but some light-hearted moments in the second half work, thanks to the chemistry between Avinash and Medha. Sudhir Pande and Vishwanath Chatterjee add much-needed humour, and the dialogues are good.

Despite its limitations, including predictability and a dated lens, Ginny Weds Sunny 2 is easy to watch in fleeting stretches. It may not move or surprise you, but it doesn't entirely disengage either, making it a saving grace for a familiar film.
