Imtiaz Ali's 2015 film Tamasha was initially a box office flop but has since become a cult classic. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, resonated with young working professionals who dreamed of pursuing creative careers. Inspired by the film's lead character, many quit their corporate jobs to pursue writing and art. Imtiaz Ali recently met several such individuals in Mumbai and admitted to feeling guilty about their decision.
Speaking to News18, Ali said, 'I feel terribly guilty. I hope they succeed. If they don't, then I become responsible for the disaster in their lives.' He also expressed mixed feelings about such decisions, stating that many of these individuals had lucrative professions but left to become artists, just like those in the industry.
Imtiaz Ali is currently gearing up for the release of his next film, Main Vaapas Aaunga, a love story set during the Partition era, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 21.
