The title track of David Dhawan's film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, was recreated and recorded in just 48 hours. Musician Mohsin Shaikh, of the music-composer duo Javed-Mohsin, worked with Varun to get the title track right.
The song is inspired by David Dhawan's 1990 film Biwi No. 1 song Ishq Chandi Hai, Ishq Sona Hai hook line. The original song was in the hardcore Indian Bollywood music genre, while the recreated version is in the house music genre with modern and traditional instruments.
Mohsin says that recreating a chartbuster song is tougher than composing a new one, but they were able to achieve great results with the help of Varun and their team. The song features a live brass section, string section, back-up vocals, rap, and other music.
The voice of original singers Shankar Mahadevan and Hema Sardesai has been used, and original composer Annu Malik has also been credited along with the music-director duo.
