Canadian authorities have deported two Indian nationals, Arshdeep Singh and Sukhnaaz Singh Sandhu, over their involvement in extortion-related activity and drug trafficking. Singh entered Canada on a study permit in 2022, while Sandhu came as a temporary resident in 2016. Both were arrested in November 2025 and remained in immigration detention until their deportation. Singh claimed he faced persecution if returned to India due to his support for the Khalistan movement.

The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) identified the two individuals and reported them inadmissible for membership in a criminal organisation linked to extortion, arson, drug trafficking, and firearm offences. The CBSA removed Singh from Canada under escort on January 19 and Sandhu on February 3. The agency has opened 372 immigration investigations and issued 70 removal orders as part of its efforts to combat extortion and organised crime.

Canada's Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree stated that protecting the safety and well-being of Canadians requires constant vigilance in the face of evolving criminal threats. The government will continue to support and invest in strong, coordinated enforcement efforts to remove those who are not entitled to remain in Canada.
