Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, a former CIA officer and daughter-in-law of US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has revealed why she stepped away from her role in the Trump administration, citing alarming misconduct and poor oversight within the intelligence community.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Fox Kennedy expressed her discomfort with the handling of taxpayer-funded resources, particularly after allegations surrounding the movement of gold bullion tied to a major federal investigation surfaced.

She stated that she couldn't continue signing off on the checks, fearing she would become complicit in the unsupervised movement of money and gold, which raised serious constitutional concerns.

Her resignation follows the arrest of senior CIA official David Rush, who was allegedly found with over 300 gold bars valued at over $40 million at his Virginia home during an FBI raid.

Fox Kennedy suggested the case pointed to institutional issues within US intelligence agencies, stating that certain activities involved domestic political operations that 'no American would condone.'

The CIA, however, rejected suggestions of financial secrecy or lack of accountability, stating that the agency keeps its oversight committees fully and currently informed regarding agency resources and expenditures.

Fox Kennedy praised CIA Director John Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and acting successor Bill Pulte, saying they were attempting to end the 'weaponization' of federal institutions.
